Why I Blog

This began an a New Year’s resolution two years ago.  I vowed I would work on my writing.  I joined the local writers’ guild, took some classes and began blogging on a daily basis.  After a few months, I lost some steam and began blogging and writing only occasionally.  I realized that by blogging daily I wasn’t actually taking the time to hone my craft.  I would just publish raw rants.  Ultimately I would like to be a better writer and would like to be published.  Recently I was not awarded the emerging artist’s fellowship in my state.  I’m going to keep writing.  It serves as therapy for me and I’d be a liar to say I don’t like the idea of connecting with other people.  I would love to be a monstrous talent like Steinbeck or Joyce Carol Oates but my style is probably more David Sedaris – humor in bed with serious topics.
